Identity
I am___________. You are______________. He/She/They/It is/are____________.
Whatever fills the blank space constitutes identity and is the most fundamental work of human beings.
The first task of Adam, (to use a Biblical metaphor) was to name (identify) everything. – The beginning of human language – The Noun.. (the name of stuff in space) and then – The Verb (the name for the ‘stuff’ of time….i.e. its ‘happenings’ or ‘activities’) . Then further refining the narrative by describing this space/time stuff (Adjectives and Adverbs) and then relating and connecting all that stuff together (Prepositions and Conjunctions).
This is the foundation of all human creativity. Words.
Integrity of thought requires that the stories we tell ourselves and others, about ourselves and others…. and everything else in space /time …. are internally and observably coherent. Truth is both coherent and consistent. Our ability to explain and determine reality depends on it.
Our civilization at present consists of some 7 billion storytellers. That’s an awful lot of stories….and tremendous potential for conflict of intents. Creativity generally starts with chaos anyway.
It is the ability to detect and correct inconsistency and incoherence as well as the ability to discern connectedness and imagine possibilities – the Intellect and imagination that are the creative factors of human consciousness.
Morality
I once thought of morality as a kind of road-map for being. I define this now as my necessary phase of political and religious infancy. The apostle Paul seemed to share these insights in his philosophy of Christian Law and Grace. He speaks of the Law as a school master for those not yet ready to embrace their tremendous liberty in Christ.
I now see morality as a road-map for becoming (what’s the point in a regulation that stifles and frustrates rather than engages and fulfills human passion?). And I now understand how threatening true Christian liberty can be for the unprepared (the unschooled, the undergraduates).
Their is tremendous power in freedom. The fearful are robbed of all creative agency.
I am disengaging my outward focusing on Christian unity and the internal and external inconsistencies of such a pursuit with an authentic African identity. The trails of that journey can be pieced together from my blogs

I am now taking leave to ensure that I am becoming who I need to be to get where I am going. It no longer matters whether or not anyone I know is coming.
Be blessed.
