Fire next time

The Christian right (Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell Jr., Franklyn Graham et al, along with a cabal of ‘smooth-saying’ prophets) now seem more aware of the extent of the corruption and disarray of the Trump administration, having managed thus far to dissociate themselves from the unholy muck by maintaining mute bewilderment, eager for Trump’s delivery on his promise of a Supreme Court Justice. Some have started now even to warn Trump of the danger of his compulsive excesses.

Grassley, aware of the ticking clock, having given an ultimatum, now has his reply from Blasey Ford’s Lawyers exposing the crass maneuvering of the complicit GOP to rush through a Kavenaugh pick.

The bulk of the weight of responsibility for the wholesale compromise of America’s main democratic institutions rests heavily on enablers from the Christian church. Such a church may be worthy of its greatest fears being visited on its hypocrisy – not just loss of influence, but loss of religious freedom and autonomy, a gift so perverted and abused, that can only be balanced by the fires of persecution.
