Unimpeachable

The tendency for adult decision-making to become hopelessly prejudiced and often poisoned by the partisan spectacles through which we have learned to view the world is a matter of mere observation in any modern society of blended diversity. Not without reason did the scripture say a child will lead them. For similar reason, you will note that though he be both Lion and lamb, Heaven’s throne is occupied only by one not the other. (The Lion, Eagle and other mighty creatures were present but not found worthy.)

The purpose of law has to be seen as having a harmonizing function where social conflict and tension are inevitable and normative. Where the law becomes a tool of social engineering to create a designer society in the interest of whichever zealous group that considers itself morally qualified and sufficiently informed to determine what practices or perspectives should dominate social life, democracy in principle has ended and some form of oligarchy has been enabled.

Justice is not about control in the interest of a few, or even a majority. Justice is about regulation in the common interest. Our present debate in removing the archaic, racially based, culturally prejudiced legislation prohibiting the practice of Obeah tests again the commitment of our self described Christian Democracy to principles of equality before the law.

In the US, self-described ‘Christian democratic’ forces conspire to enable a near despotism, sacrificing in the process almost every constitutionally enshrined democratic norm, principle and practice to ensure that the voice of the ‘wrong sort’ of people is contained and not allowed to sway the society from its ‘Christian’ values; using underhanded, deceptive and manipulative methods from political gerrymandering, strategic mass disinformation, economic coercion and other nefarious modalities on such a grand scale as to make the historic practice of Obeah in the Jamaican context entirely innocuous – child’s play… by way of comparison.

Which form of witchcraft should be the subject of legislative concern – occult practices designed at appropriating the wife or other ‘property’ of one’s next door neighbor or occult practices designed to achieve regime change for the purpose of exacting the wealth of competitor nation states?

Quite apart from being out of its metaphysical depth, the British crown, for all the ignominious deference still fawningly ascribed by its lackeys on both sides of our people’s Parliamentary House, is also quite morally unfit to make pronouncements on what forms of ‘witchcraft’ are legal in Jamaican culture and which approaches to religion are socially detrimental to the purpose of a fair and just society.

Judges, politicians, presidents and Heads of state found guilty of manipulating state power in the interests of a vested clique should be impeached and deposed. All earthly and heavenly powers that do not serve the people are, by very nature, ‘illegal’ regardless of the level of astuteness and effectiveness of any particular state legislature.

All Christian pretenders, like wolf in sheep clothing, go and behold the Lord of all worlds half naked with a towel around his waist in John 13. Till you can imitate him in spirit, you can only be a pompous self-deceived hypocrite.

Justice alone is unimpeachable. Legislators and power wielders of all sorts must be constantly watched. That’s what the eyes around the throne of God are for. Unlike many of our earthly institutions, they protect and serve. That’s why Heaven’s sea is as glass but our masses are unstable.

Thy Kingdom come. Selah.
