James spoke about the concept of ‘pure religion’ . There is also, whether one wants to believe in it or not, pure politics. Obviously, whenever human power is concentrated, and hidden from public view, there will be money and sex excesses. Once one has access to power, there is the discovery of the raw truth that human pleasure and power have no limit, if one can pay the cost for it. That’s the very reason that the first thing governance invented was law. To shut the doors of power and paradise to those who on entering in might disturb the peace of the previous occupants.
People who don’t pay attention actually believe in the mythic flaming sword of the seraph – whether guardian of the gates of power or paradise. Answer me this: How comes the same people that impeached Clinton for a little white lie (when you think about it, is is a little ambiguous) wont even question Trump about what tantamounts to Treason. Those who believe in the flaming sword don’t even try to attempt an answer. It is one of life’s mysteries above their pay-grade. But if you follow the money trail to the halls of real power, you will recognize that all those White Houses, whether Congress, The Senate or the presidential palace are all decoys. The flaming sword of the law is a myth, but those who dont pay attention will be caught up in the trance.
I may sound like one of those jaded conspiracy theorists. I am not. My eyes are open. Jesus said Watch. Most of his followers past and present cant help but fall asleep. Then the sword cometh and they are taken unawares. Jesus wasnt taken. He went. He had a date in the Council Hall. He had a destiny in Paradise.
Our politics in Jamaica can be confusing to those who are sleeping under some powerful suggestions. The prince of Jamaican politicians – founder of the first national power bloc – the People’s Nation (I refuse to say ‘Party’ and fall into the trap of the deluded)…… If there ever was a political purist, that was Norman Manley. He understood power a thing to be cultivated and nurtured in the interest of the collective. For those jaded by partisan cultures and unable to discern hand from toe, it takes a political purist to ‘sell all he had and give the poor’. Manley used his money to fund the PNP not vice versa as is common for the political pragmatist. If you want to tell the difference between a Bustamante and Manley, one left his widow nary a penny and the other left his widow a mansion on the hill.
You can interpret that as you may. The fact is not every politician comes to power seeking anything personally from it…and in fact, a few have given everything they had to it, with no other returns than an empowered populace. Pure politics undefiled is about people empowerment. The people’s eyes must be opened to see the possibilities of paradise on earth.
But every genuine has its counterfeit. And an untrained eye cant tell squat of a difference. You build a prison industrial complex and use your law and religion to reintroduce slavery in acceptable modern form to refill your coffers and dangle the sword of your filthy religion and corrupt power systems to mesmerize a disquiet people you intend, if you can manage it, to shut out of paradise eternally….just a straw breaks the camel’s back.
You have no sympathy from me. Burn in the fire you intended for another. Your haughty days are over. You will come down very low and beg …..and none will pay you attention.
