It could be argued that the Emperor’s nakedness was obvious to everyone in the realm from day 1 of the Trump administration. The thing to be examined then is the complicity of the crowd that facilitates the denigration of the throne and all institutionally embodied in it, by such manifest lewdness.

Of course, we are speaking about America’s very vocal minority – Trump’s thus far stable 40% who were expected to remain unshaken if he committed murder in broad daylight on New York Avenue. Well of course, naked murder might not be that scandalous to the pure blooded American, whose garments have been stained in innocent blood from infancy. But treason….that should rock the boat.

The bedrock of that seemingly unflappable 40% has been the church….specifically the white church and its few black lackeys thrown in for good measure. Much like Haiti’s Mackandal, they seem to have made a pact, a spiritual vow and binding contract to pursue the path of their leader till death, or at least till treason.

What to make of this minority, who , in name, are our brothers and sisters in Christ, the deceived elect, under the influence of the cool-aide and lacking in discernment, self deluded, unable to distinguish between fathers and vampires and therefore susceptible to being given stones for bread and snakes for fish.

Trump has been seen pooing in public from the start but only now is the proverbial shit hitting the fan. Not even Fox news is able to dodge the sludge, even this close to elections. What is at stake is total institutional failure, not just temporary loss of the steering wheel.

What happens the morning after, when one is forced to wake up from deep delusion and in complete disorientation, face the grim reality of where one is, what one has done, and who one has become? The concession of all those conservative judicial appointments and other positions of prominence unable or unwilling to turn back the clock on any of the cultural battles, only proving effective in protecting temporarily the president’s personal interests by perverting justice not establishing it; was the fornication with the powers of Babylon worth it?

We know what cognitive dissonance looks like. Whenever some centuries held scientific theorem is overturned by new discovery, the centrists in the academy go through the process. The cycle of denial, defensive deception, disgrace and defeat is so avoidable and unnecessary, but we have built our egos, in the church and in academia, around our perceptions of truth rather than our pursuit of it.

So we cant help being prone to serpents in the secret place, even if no pigs are in the parlor, like the morally exemplary Pharisees, making sons of perdition of their proselytes, unaware of greater offences to the divine than breaches of sexual etiquette and social graces – trite people and arrogant, implacable sticklers for law and order from back then; for whom the concept of social justice means stoning to death the simple who run afoul of the law, without ever asking why.

Regardless of our proneness, we must face this day of reckoning. The truth is not what we would like it to be, but what it is; and now we must face it, and deal with it. May God have mercy on us all.
