Paul’s sentiment that it is better to publicly surrender one’s soul to Satan for destruction of the body than to allow moral reprobation to spread unchecked throughout the church is no longer considered appropriate. Peter’s zeal, amplified by the anointing, left liars permanently slain before the altar, but today, the cowardly and hypocritical leaders of Christianity prefer to jump in bed with liars for political gain.
Consider the zeal of those who protest a rainbow flag being flown from a place of authority yet remain in timid silence in the face of a deluge of deception (to make Ananias and Sapphira seem saints) designed to overthrow legitimate government by any necessary means, pervert democracy and its supporting institutions, install unprincipled and ruthless leadership, and maintain de facto the dwindling powerbase of racial oppression and tyranny.
Jamaica’s small voice has roared with clarion clarity among the nations in the past on matters of truth and justice. If past political leaders possessed the testicular fortitude to speak the truth to tyrannical power and forego the economic benefit of silent acquiescence, won’t our religious leaders also prove themselves worthy of their salt, renounce ties with the morally reprobate North American religious establishment, openly rebuke it’s ethical compromise….. and show themselves principled rather than petty in their public pronouncements concerning North American negative influences impacting Caribbean culture?
True passion in any cause arouses great courage. The difference between Kevin Smith, and the apostle Peter or Deacon Paul Bogle is the grandness or pettiness of the cause that incites their passion, the clarity and consistency of their moral vision, and the physical / spiritual/moral weapons at their command. Mad people (by whatever definition you choose) have courage. Sacred and secular armies exist to protect and defend those values sacred to civilizational survival and defeat/exterminate those inimical to them. There is, and always will be a time to kill … except for cowards, who regardless how hungry, depend on the butcher for their burger, too personally horrified to slit the throat of the chicken themselves. Hypocrites!
