The End

It was March 28th 2006 when I sent an email to a mentee expressing concern over the results of the Israeli election which would be coming in the following day. My consternation was that if BB Netanyahu won, it would be the end of the world as we know it. I said as much to my student who would have no idea of the source of my concerns. I breathed a sigh of relief when Olmert came out on top. However, it was only three years until BB would prevail, and I have been expecting ‘the end’ ever since.

Seasons of global human history have hinged upon the actions of particular individuals whose actions, inventions or discoveries triggered a chain reaction of events that catapulted the destiny of the human race to another phase of unfoldment.

Of course, I had felt similarly about George Bush’s decision to go to war in Iraq on patently false premises (yes it was patent at the time to those sanguine enough to not be taken by the transparent lies being projected from the White House) . This also seemed a key turning point with potential to shift the trajectory of human history and I still maintain that perspective. One would have to look at the flow of time outside of the time continuum to gain perspective of how events are organized and interconnected.

Most cannot conceive of that possibility from the prism of the axioms of the present science, but then again, dreamers have always maintained an open mind about the realm of possibilities. Those few scientists (if one calls Freud a real scientist, as the object of his studies was the mysterious human consciousness, which up to now, the physical sciences can say very little conclusively about) who have claimed some insight into the organization and outcome of human experiences do speak of such non-linear cognition of synchronicity, though not confessing to understand its workings.

Being a dreamer, having a vision of ‘the end’ has always been more important to me than even seeing clearly the present moment – a predilection I am seeking to correct now that I am recognizing more and more how much the end I see(k) is seeded in the now.

Being far-sighted or short-sighted both have their boons and banes, but the ability to see clearly what’s right in front of you, and the elements in close association is necessary for balance, and that’s usually what massive unanticipated change affects most. Balance. Specifically, the balance of power. Every element of human life hinges on one’s locus within the power continuum.

Since Power is so central to human experience (whether defined as God and His angels, human government and its agencies, or whatever authoritative moral, legal, physical or financial sources we subordinate ourselves to) we should have developed effective means to talk to it/he/her/them … to negotiate (and we have come a long way), but our present predicament as embodied in the present potential volatility of the Western civilizational status quo indicates a significant conversational challenge.

Let’s see how this ends.

  1. BB Netanyahu signalling the end of the world as we know it? Not really. Under his regime our generation certainly gets to see just how Israel literally becomes a ‘burdensome stone’ for all people . We get to see quite lucidly the developing of a rationale for the nations of the earth to be gathered against it – Zechariah 12:3. Wars and rumours of wars but the end is not yet, my brother – Matthew 24:6.

Still ahead of us are the building of the third temple in Jerusalem, for which the breeding of the Red Heifer has been successfully done for sacrifices; the big lie, accompanied by widespread strong delusion in those who reject the love of Jesus Christ; the falling away from the Christian Faith and the unveiling of the Antichrist/ man of sin/ son of perdition/ lawless one, to whom Satan gives his power – 2 Thessalonians 2:1-12; Revelation 3:1-2. These constitute the final ‘birth pains’.

BB Netanyahu signals perhaps a second trimester ‘kick’ in the womb of the end-time pregnancy but we haven’t quite entered the third trimester.

Our Lord still testifies, “surely I am coming quickly”. Amen. Even so, come Lord Jesus – Revelation 22:20. Shalom.
