At a time when some have expressed concern that our civilizational project might be under threat by the present intimidation, this is a refreshing breath and reminder that the foundations of our civilization are made of sturdier stuff, but also that we have a burden in our generation to ‘rebuild the city walls’ – restore the institutional foundations that were well laid but have become broken down or compromised.
The church will either be the guardian of Integration, or its Judas. We need to ensure, all around the region, that the latter, susceptible to Northern influences through ideology and purse, targeted in the past by Santa fe policy (BTW for those who understand the Spanish, what a ‘coincidental’ name!), never get the upper-hand in any single Caribbean territory while we are mid-wifing this critical period of Integrational solidarity and consolidation.
