There is now no doubt in my mind. AFREG will be a significant force catalyzing change in political realities in Africa and her Diasporas. As usual, as with everything in the political domain, there will be significant challenges from without and within as contest and compromise map out their constituency boundaries. However, in terms of articulating and leveraging the Christian voice around core Christian values in the public domain around matters beyond the usual issues that have been both politicized and moralized, to the equally if not much more substantial matters of international, national and social justice where inequity has provoked the church far less than iniquity, whether because of the church’s complacency or often complicity, there promises to be at least a more robust attempt at aiming for a truer expression of the principles articulated in the gospels that encourage human flourishing for all through Christian influence and church backed programs in the public/civic sphere.
Discerning Christian leaders in the Caribbean perhaps should take notice of the movement’s aims and intentions, their culture and modus operandi.
