A lying, lesbian, satanic jezebel. That was how Rachel Maddow was stylized by one of my ever-Trumpian friends. The ‘queen of fake news’ probably would have sufficed, but there is a vile, bilious underbelly to the diatribe spewed forth by Trump followers (no… ‘imitators’) who have been deceptively recruited and manipulated to protect and defend the evil power behind the US presidency.
Well, Rachel, my favorite cable news personality, not just an excellent investigative journalist, but a master of narrative – her stories are artful, adding context and dimension to what others merely report as news, drew attention last night to four otherwise salacious scandals (the last and perhaps most significant of which wont even get mentioned here) sidelined by the noise of impeachment, that indicate to me the dilemma that 2020 is positioned to unfold.
The first being the implosion of the NRA… (there needs to be a book written on the subject….I cant believe I am about to move on without further comment…..for the sake of brevity….this is the point …..such massive corruption and deception defies easy summation….)
The second being The Trump foundation scandal…….we may remember the at first shocking allegations that highlighted the unconscionable fraud that should have repudiated any American of good conscience, disqualifying Trump outright as a character fit for public office much less the presidency. Morally degenerate leadership is of course nothing new to American politics, but what is unprecedented with Trump is that his moral degeneracy has been on public display from day one. His 2 million dollar fine for breaking charity laws was reportedly finally paid up last month, totally obfuscated by the impeachment ‘witch hunt’.
The third – the Trump University fraud – another of the literal hundreds of scandals that once would have shocked and offended the good conscience of a morally healthy public, but totally inundated by the unrelenting assault against any standards of public decency, which cost Trump 25 million dollars in court fines, now also paid up I believe, should have made it obvious, that while having crooks and criminals as kings is nothing new in American history, what is unprecedented is the open display.
As has been typical with the daily offenses against law, norm, custom, decorum and moral practice, Trump’s initial reaction has always been – lies! Lies! Lies! They hate me! (poor little innocent me) Then when the evidence has accrued, stories are changed, or every tactic to smother further attention is made, especially projection, scapegoating and obfuscation (and of course whenever possible revenge.)
It would spend too much of my Christmas morning to be more specific and the effort would be pointless – it’s not evidence that is lacking …. nor reason…… moral blindness can look like an Act of God.
The concern is in fact how the name of God which has been almost inextricably tied to the Trump presidency by America’s most prominent God advocates will fare in the wake of all this degeneracy – both that already exposed and the significant portion of which is still hiding in plain sight.
I’m not concerned about God’s name – Who needs no advocate….but America who has so polluted it. There must and will be repercussions….none of which might be even recognized at first by values-clad moralists such as were the pre 70 A.D. Pharisees, as the just recompense for their own self-righteousness.

We are, in fact, not “far-right” evangelicals as characterized by the author.
Rather, we are Bible-believing Christians and patriotic Americans who are simply grateful that our President has sought our advice as his administration has advanced policies that protect the unborn, promote religious freedom, reform our criminal justice system, contribute to strong working families through paid family leave, protect the freedom of conscience, prioritize parental rights, and ensure that our foreign policy aligns with our values while making our world safer, including through our support of the State of Israel. We are not theocrats, and we recognize that our imperfect political system is a reflection of the fallen world within which we live, reliant upon the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, which is freely given to sinner and saint, alike.
We are proud to be numbered among those in history who, like Jesus, have been pretentiously accused of having too much grace for tax collectors and sinners, and we take deeply our personal responsibility to render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s — our public service.
The editorial you published, without any meaningful and immediate regard for dissenting points of view, not only supported the entirely-partisan, legally-dubious, and politically-motivated impeachment but went even further, calling for Donald Trump not to be elected again in 2020 when he certainly survives impeachment.
As one of our signatories said to the press, “I hope Christianity Today will now tell us who they will support for president among the 2020 Democrat field?”
Your editorial offensively questioned the spiritual integrity and Christian witness of tens-of-millions of believers who take seriously their civic and moral obligations.
It not only targeted our President; it also targeted those of us who support him, and have supported you.
Sincerely,

Ok I thought this was a direct reply to my post but it is an indirect one. Trump’s deals with the Evangelical church, the White Supremacists, the Black and Latino community reflect the kind of political savvy that in playing ball, you have to also ask “At what cost?” The soul (character) is priceless. If one must sell their soul for political advantage, one can be sure that all gained in the deal is lost in the trade. I don’t mind using politicians for advancing kingdom values, but if it is necessary to worship them for the favor, I prefer persecution.

There is just too many holes in this one to take on. What you demonstrated to us is an example of the saying >>>what you hear often enough you eventual believe<<

Take them on. Truth and hearsay are in need of separation in these times.
