We all are, merrily or not, rowing our boats down the stream of time. As I am constantly reminded each time one of those moments comes around when the fact that my mother is simply not here and never will be again, assaults my senses, still shocked, as if somehow they were not programmed to accept the eventuality of death, life indeed is but a dream, no matter how concrete each present moment may feel and is, if it all simply dissipates and dissappears into nothingness, whatever seems substantial and palpable and real is indeed ultimately illusory. Life is just a dream. It’s far from meaningless. No dream is. Perhaps our understanding of its meaning is impaired or convoluted.
The excitement of dreams is to live them. To really live them out to the fullest. ‘Be all you can be,’ they say. Recurring dreams are like an itch you need to scratch but cant reach its location. They nag at you for notice until they have your attention.
Walk with me will you as we together share dreamspace. The Day of Remembrance is my second most read article in 20 years of blogging. That reflection is directly related to the reflection we will be having on Saturday. It is directly connected to all I dream about. My very first blog was just another attempt to scratch an itch I’ve been reaching for from before I was born it seems.
I know many of us might not have reflected on the meaning of the echoes of time; that there are transpersonal, intergenerational resonances we will never understand until our theory of consciousness takes us beyond the limiting brain-bound axioms of materialistic science into the metaphysical domains where purpose is construed, constructed and assigned.
Anyway, whatever one chooses to think, I cant shake this thing. I have to live it. My thinking is that we all have no choice in the matter. We all will have to live it. Perhaps the only choice we have is how. And that’s why our dreams need attention. Because we have a limited time in which to interpret them, to understand their message and to respond to their call.
