This year began in crisis, with multiple threats of warfare and bells of prophetic alarm sounding throughout the region (on one occasion, assured of imminent and very active threat of foreign invasion of a sovereign Caribbean State, I was driven to such intense heat of intercessory warfare, the likes of which I have not experienced since Trench Town in the late 80s … that experience is documented in Natural Mystic). If that had occurred, the prospect of Caribbean stability for this generation or the next would have been irrevocably upended.
Now, coming close to the end of the year, although the noise and pandemonium in global geo-politics continues unabated, the atmospheric gloom and heaviness of overshadowing dark clouds in the heavens has broken and already the beginnings of a dissipation of chaos is yielding the slightest sliver of the light of hope beginning to burst through. And make no mistake, that was the root ailment throughout the region. When old and young together begin to despair of a bright tomorrow, know that all that is left is pending destruction.
But now, hopes for a bright future begin to kindle throughout the Caribbean, even in Haiti and in Cuba. Crisis can be critical, but it is nothing more than a temporary phase to the one in whom Christ is. Where Christ is, crisisn’t. We do battle, but in the spirit of triumph, certain of victory.
Two events yesterday significantly impressed upon me a sense of spiritual breakthrough. Tomorrow is certainly going to be a brighter day for our peoples. One, which I attended, was the ordination ceremony of Apostle Christopher Morgan. It was not just his declaration that impacted me, but the history behind it, of which I am very aware. This is not hubris, or even self-confidence. He has credible backative.
The second was the testimony of Dr Terrance Drew, prime minister of the Federation of St Kitts and Nevis, himself emerging from major life-threatening crisis with ebullient hope and strong resolve. For those of us who had remained steadfast in continuous intercession for his healing and return to duties, his related experience of spiritual ecounter was a greater reward than simple answered prayer.
Where hope abounds, miracles are possible. It’s coming to the end of what has been a grueling year. We lick our wounds. We rejoice in our victories. We begin the process again of preparing ourselves for new battles in the upcoming year.
